Born September 17th, Alexis Taylor (Lex) is a SoFlo-based Artist and woman of many wigs *and talents.*

As the oldest of 5, family and community play a vital role in her core values. Her love for collaboration and creation have catapulted her into passion projects such as her non-profit heART of the Matter, and other projects like her 2023 grant-funded multimedia art event, Tension of Transition.

Having been captivated and influenced by all things colorful since childhood and inspired by the paint department color cards, Alexis began writing her first book of poetry, Palette Poetry, based off of them in 2021.

Palette Poetry is a collection of poems that explore life through color, conflict, and candid experiences. Some excerpts from my book can be found under the “Lines” section. For more information on how to purchase this work, please click here!

Always wanting to grow as an Artist, Alexis received her BFA in Musical Theatre from Samford University and has since performed professionally. She has also gone on to teach as an Elementary and Middle School Drama and Rhetoric Speech teacher.

Her current passions center around Postpartum Doula work, Coaching young performers, collaborating with local artists, composing new Poems, and working on her traditional and Digital Art.

More than anything, Alexis strives to honor God and show up for “little Lex” by making space for others to be themselves artistically and authentically.
